A Christmas Gift.

A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.
Proverbs 22:8-10

A few weeks ago, Cody and I took his mom and step-dad out for their 20th anniversary.  As we were paying for parking at the un-manned parking booth, I looked down and saw a folded up twenty dollar bill.  I swiftly grabbed the money and thought to myself  shouted with excitement, "Its my lucky day"!  As we made our way into the restaurant, however, I began to fill a sort of tugging within.  Although I desperately wanted to keep the money, I began to feel convicted, almost as if God was trying to teach me a lesson about giving.  Still hesitant about these feelings, I gave the money to Cody for safe-keeping, knowing that if I kept it in my wallet it would get spent.  We both resolved that we would give the money to the church on the following Sunday.

We didn't make it to church that Sunday, though, and the money remained in Cody's wallet for another couple of weeks (he's so frugal!).

Last week, a close friend of mine called to ask if I would be willing to make a piece of jewelry for her to give to her sister-in-law as a Christmas gift.  Of course I agreed, as I was excited and flattered that she had even asked.  She eventually decided on a piece that I already had made and we agreed that twenty five dollards was a fair price.

Last week I received a Facebook message from a friend of my mom's.  The friend explained that her nephew was recently diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia and that she was trying to collect canned goods and money for the family, since the illness left both he and his wife unable to work.  I passed the message along to my mom as the friend had asked. I started to read the friend's Facebook page since she was intermittently posting updates about her nephew.  After several days of reading the updates, I knew that there had to be something Cody and I could do to help this poor family.  Since my mom's friend and her nephew both live in rural Missouri, I knew that shipping canned goods would be very costly, so Cody and I decided that we would use the twenty dollars that I found in the restaurant parking lot to buy a WalMart giftcard.  I purchased the giftcard, placed it in a Christmas card and put it in the mail, hoping that it would get to the family in time for Christmas.

When we returned home from Cody's grandmother's yesterday, there was a check in the mail from my close friend who had ordered the necklace.  The check was made out in the amount of fifty dollars, despite the fact that we had agreed on twenty-five.  My friend PAID ME DOUBLE the price we agreed on!

Isn't it amazing how God works?  When we give from our hearts, God bestows his blessings upon us.

We now have twenty-five dollars more than we planned on having, and God has once again placed a burden on my heart to give generously.

Don't get me wrong (and please don't think I am self-righteous), spending the money on a new pair of shoes, a new purse, or any number of things I could have spent it on would have been lots of fun; however, the lesson that God has taught me this Christmas season is worth more than anything tangible.  Litte did I know, finding that twenty dollar bill led me to the gift of a lifetime.

A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes other will himself be refreshed.
Proverbs 11:24-26

Divinity Shmivinity.

No, I don't mean divinity as in Our Lord, Jesus Christ.  I am talking about divinity, the candy, the most wretched finicky of all christmas candies.  I'll tell you more about that later.

We visited my parents in Bowie yesterday.  We went to the flea market and had a pizza party!

I spent 5 hours in the kitchen today, baking all of my Christmas goodies.  This was the first time that I have ever attempted to bake in such large proportions and I am exhausted.  I made mini friendship bread loaves, peanut butter balls, thumbprint cookies and...ahem...divinity.

The final product!

So where is the divinity, you ask?

Right here in the trash can where it belongs! G'night.

Forever in Pictures.

Well, here I am again.  I'm staring at my computer screen trying to find a reason why I haven't blogged in
F-O-R-E-V-E-R.  Instead of giving you some lame excuse, though, I am just going to recap the last few weeks with pictures (because I really don't have any excuse, much less a lame one).  So, what have the Krupalas been up to the last month...

...visiting Dina from There's No Place Like Home at her Christmas open house!  Love her!  If you have not visited her site to check out her house, you should...

...attending a memorial tea with Brooke.  Here black and leopard table was adorable!  The picture above is from Brooke's Mom's table.  The one below is Brooke's table...

...finding some bargains, like this one, at garage sales. We bought this fixture for $40 at a garage sale and...

...purchasing a new dining room table and chairs at Trader's Village for an awesome price...

...stuffing our faces at Mimi's on Thanksgiving...

...enjoying our Christmas tree...

...seeing Megan and Ashley at Ashley and Wesley's wedding reception (Note: this picture is me after 36 hours of not taking a shower...major plumbing problems...lovely)...

...having lots of fun at the reception...

...taking Christmas card pictures.  Thanks Brooke!...

...wrapping Christmas presents...when the dogs weren't running off with the wrapping paper...

...and finishing some custom jewery pieces for the holidays...

Whew!  It has been a busy few weeks!  What have you been up to?

TOTS (Tired of Taylor Swift)

Did you watch the CMA's?

Okay, Okay, I know the blog title isn't the nicest thing I've ever said, but seriously...she BEAT OUT GEORGE STRAIT for entertainer of the year?  I dont exactly think that Georgie-Poo should have won either, but Brad Paisley or Keith Urban would have been nice.

She also beat out Miranda AND Carrie for female vocalist? Are you kidding me?  Taylor's performance last night was mediocre (and I'm being generous), while Carrie and Miranda were amazing (despite their poor wardrobe choices).  What's up with the hot pants, Carrie?

Although the Kanye/Little Jimmy Dickens satire was hilarious, I'm OVER TAYLOR SWIFT ALREADY!

What did you think about the CMA's?

3 days.

Can you believe I have posted for 3 days in a row now? I can hardly believe it myself!

My neighbor, Heather, introduced me to Tuesday's list.  I think its cute and fun and thought that I would give it a whirl.  This weeks topic was favorite fall fashion trends/accessories.  I LOVE fall so I LOVE this topic!

My 5 favorite fall trends are...
5. Stacked necklaces.

So, I realize that this is Miley Cyrus and maybe she isn't your favorite but the look is way cute!

4. Flower headbands.

Love these! I don't think I can pull of any of the over the top humongous ones, but I have a few small ones and they look so cute on!

3. Suede boots.

I have a pair that look almost exactly like this and I wear them all the time. They look cute with jeans, leggins, or dresses. These are a 2009 fall wardrobe staple.

2. Scarves.

I have only recently jumped on the scaf bandwagon, even though I saw some crazy people wearing them during the summer. They look so cute with almost anything!

1. Anything and Everything PURPLE!

I mean, eveyone's wearing it!

What fall trends do you LOVE?

Surprise, Surprise!

Guess what?  I'm actually going to post BEFORE Tuesday's list.  Can you believe it?  So, I wanted to share a video with you guys tonight.  I have been listening to alot of Christian radio lately, especially in the morning on my way to work. Its kind of like my quite time.  I Love, Love, Love The Message on Sirius/XM, and they have been playing a new song by Phil Stacey that I think is absolutely AMAZING.

Yes, this is the Phil Stacey from American Idol.  Isn't this song A-M-A-Z-I-N-G?

PS: Stellan had an emergency ablation today AND IT WORKED!  Go here and read all about it!  Praise the Lord!

Where.Have.I.Been.

Are you wondering where I've been?  No where exciting, actually.  Just haven't really been into blogging.  Today, though, I feel inspired to share with you, my readers (all 3 of you) about what I have been up to lately.  I am going to try to start participating in Tuesday's List and Friday's five so that I will actually have something to write about.

Last week was pretty non-chalant.  I worked on my twenty-something-page-only-supposed-to-be-twelve-page research report about the hand hygiene program I have been doing at the school.  I am turning it in today.  Whew!  Glad that one's over.

I have also learned this week about what it would be like to live without a nose.  I have had the worst sinus infection that I have had in a while, and fit right in with all of the snot-nosed kiddos at the school!

This weekend was a little more eventful.  Cody went hunting and I went to a baby shower for Cody's quasi-cousin Stephanie.  Stephanie and her sister Leslie are both pregnant.  Stephanie is due to deliver Charlotte Elaine on Christmas Day.

Leslie is on the left and Stephanie is on the right.

Cody went hunting over the weekend, and although he didn't get a deer he did shoot another very large animal, which he has affectionately named "Stink Nasty".

Gross!

This week is also a big week in the lives of several of the bloggers that I follow.  Kelly (of Kelly's Korner) and her husband Scott will be traveling to South America as missionaries.  Please say a prayer for them!  Kelly will be blogging about their trip as well, so be sure to stop by her blog and read all about their trip.

Stellan will be having an ablation on Tuesday.  Say a prayer for him and MckMama as this is a very stressful time in their lives, as well as in the lives of their family.

I will see you on Tuesday.  I promise.

State Fair, Kerosene, & Birthday Parties!

I bet you are wondering where we've been?  Or, maybe you haven't...ahem...anyways, we have been extremely busy and have been on the go, go, go! Oh, the places we have been...

to the State Fair of Texas to see...

Big Tex and...

...the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, herself, Miranda Lambert....

...to the big city to celebrate Mimi's birthday and....

...Kaley's birthday (her favorite present was her hunting license)...

Whew!  We have been busy!

On another note, Cody had a phone interview with none other than Halliburton.  Please say a prayer for Cody!  He should be going in for another interview soon!

I will try to post more routinely.  While you're waiting for my next post, you can go visit Brooke and Heather, there is lots going on with the Petty and Fisk families.  Hope you had a wonderful hump day!  G'night!

Lubbock, Texas in my rearview mirror...

Where have the Krupalas been? Well, over the past weekend, we traveled to Lubbock to visity Cody's brother Korey for Tech's family weekend.  We also met his Mom and Stepdad there too!  We had such a great time, and even got to tailgate with some extended family before the game!

Cody and I at the tailgate.

Sharlotta (Cody's mom), Korey, & Cody eating fajitas.

By now, you may be wondering why there aren't any pictures from the game?  Well, when I arrived to the gate to enter the stadium, a very grumpy old man  polite, older gentleman, told me that I could not bring my camera into the game because there was an extra lense in my camera case.  So, what did we do?  Cody and I walked the 2 miles to the car and back....

When we got to our seats, there was a woman sitting 2 rows in front of us who had the biggest, most ginormous telephoto lense that I have ever seen!  Another lady sitting several people away from her had a video camera!  Needless to say, I was a little disgruntled.

Moral of the story:  Having a telephoto lense on your camera either makes you criminal or a terrorist.  Which one are you? HA!

I am going to get my flu shot tomorrow!  Get excited!

Another Post About Food!

Yes, this is another post about food.  Today was pretty uneventful except for dinner time.  I made salmon patties, corn, and an ABSOLUTELY, WONDERFULLY DELICIOUS acorn squash recipe.

Here is how I made them so Yummy!
1. Slice the squash in half, lengthwise
2. Remove the seeds.
3.  Place on metal cookie sheet with the yellow side up.
4.  Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
5.  Place butter and brown sugar into the middle.
6.  Bake another 5 minutes at 350.

Enjoy!

3 Birthday Cakes!

Today we traveled to the big city to spend the day with Mimi (my grandmother), my parents, my aunt, and my cousin to have an early birthday party for Cody!  He will be 26 this week.  I gently reminded him that when he turns 26 he will be closer to 30 than he is to 20.  Ha!  As always, we enjoyed lots of good food!

Hamburger Noodlebake! Yum!

How many people do you know who have 3 birtday cakes at the same party?

Cake #1: A piece of frozen grooms cake from our wedding.  Funny!

Cake #2: A red velvet cake.  This is Cody's favorite and is his "real" birthday cake!

Last but certainly not least...Cake #3: A cherry cheescake made by my wonderful mother!

As you can tell, birthdays are very fattening special around here!

Even though its not my birtday, I got a present too!  My mom bought me these gourds from WalMart for my front porch.  Aren't they gorgeous?
